Y’know what’s fun?

Posted by lassam on Wednesday, October 25

Triple-booting WinXP, Ubuntu, Fedora Core, (and Windows Recovery). I got to make 9 partitions!
The Fedora version of GRUB, however, has this ugly “FEDORA!” splash page that needs to be changed. It should say something else, like ‘MOVIESET!” or “Go Team Venture!”

Also, Fedora doesn’t have dpkg-configure xorg-xserver (or xserver-xorg or something). I can’t seem to get Fedora to display in anything higher than 800×600, which makes me claustrophobic.
Maybe it just doesn’t have the built-in support for the video card, or something.
I even tried setting the HorizSync and VertRefresh, driver, and display modes in xorg.conf. Nothin’. It worked in Ubuntu on my laptop (which has some really wacky HorizSync & VertRefresh requirements, requiring a hasty visit to ‘ye Toshiba’ to find)

I *could* solve the problem, but I have some actual *WORK* to do (Wait for our tech-support @ Radiant to phone back and tell us why our FTP server is closed for business, install Flash Media Server on Fedora, perhaps also Ubuntu for shits n’ giggles, cure cancer, etc..)

Or you could, you know, NOT use Fedora. RPMs are teh suck.

Well, yeah, but Flash Media Server is a Red Hat Enterprise Linux thing, and then Peer1 is a Red Hat Enterprise Linux thing.. so I had best learn how to deal with the clumsy cousin to Debian’s glorious apt.
