The Peak Retreats

Posted by lassam on Monday, April 24

The Peak trip

So, I went to The Peak's annual "The Peak" retreat. We went up to Teague House, which is just north of Hope. I met most of the people involved in The Peak's current operations, chatted with them about important Peak business (Beer me!, and then put a newspaper over my face and had a nap on a sunny field.

The house was nice- it was almost like a cabin, except with more old stuff in it. 'Cause it's over 100 years old, the house, or at least it's been restored so that it looks like it did a hundred years ago. It would have felt neat, except it felt almost exactly like my grandparents' house before they moved out- the house that was built by my great-grandfather around 1905- On Lassam Rd., in Richmond (That's my family's road!). I'm an ugly, ugly man.

Thusly, the Peak retreat is over. I'm packing up for my next trip, Cultus Lake, and I'm spending most of the week with Kristen- first, her birthday (TODAY!), then, the FAS Formal, then, the camping trip.
Woo!

Noah Adams is a baby eater!

Posted by lassam on Friday, April 21

Apparently, somehow, Noah "The Baby Eater" Adams' name on the internet got associated with the words "baby" and "eater", in tandem. My fault? Perhaps.

So, in trying to find out more on the subject, I encountered these sites..

Have you ever eaten a baby?

For the low low price of a single human baby! You can get everquest stuff!

George Bush eats a baby. And puppies. While wearing a suit *made out of women*.
(Important note- do not read this. Really. Just ignore it. You'll be better off. It's terrible.)

Worchestershire

Posted by lassam on Friday, April 21

He seemed quiet and he liked death metal.. how did I know that he was going to start decapitating strangers and putting them in our freezer? And, you know, it's difficult living on a student's budget, and we had all this worchestershire sauce in the fridge, and I hadn't had any real protein in awhile, so.. well, long story short, I've found something else that goes with Ramen noodles.

Hooray for high-school.

Posted by lassam on Monday, April 17

This is from Sr. Year at high-school. Long, long ago. Heck, this is one of the first things I did with my scanner after I got it for my birthday. Ah, memories. Delicious memories.

Life, as expressed in terms of love for ham.

Posted by lassam on Monday, April 17

Friday was my Calculus test. (Ow, my brain). I slept all day, the Friday before the test, and was awake all night before the test trying (in vain) to drill some of the concepts in Calculus into my shallow brain.  I took the test, and answered 90% of the questions. Of course, when it comes down to it, I know that the Calculus TA's are viciously hard markers, and just because my answer to a test question might be mostly correct, that won't stop them from viciously pointing out that I forgot to remember to add a constant "C" at the end of the equation. You lose 2 marks out of 5!… Well, considering my rather tepid performance (65-72%) on earlier tests, tests which I had pegged, at the time, as having been easy A's, I was certain that my marks on my calculus test would be low, probably much lower than the mark that I had imagined in the test room.  And, lo and behold, last night when I recieved my marks back, I had a mere 56.5% on my hands, test-wise. Combined with my marks in the course (noting that, in the 8 months I've spent in Calc 2, I've completed maybe 10% of my homework) .. I end up with a proud, glorious C-, the minimum requirement to never, ever, ever have to take Calculus again. *I'm siiiingin' in the raain… oh siingin' in the rain.. what a glorious feeeelin' I'm haaaappy again.. *

Having duly mangled my Calculus test, I slept until 1:00 in the morning on Sunday.  An awkward time to wake up, fully rested, mind you.  I managed to stay awake for 26 or 27 more hours, and entertained myself with a few bad movies, breakfast with family, some shopping with family, a dinner with family, and a boring board-style-game with family. Also? HAM!
There's nothing in the world quite so special as a spiral-cut honey-glazed baked ham. Carnivorous villain that I am, I'm not a huge fan of any of the really time-intensive meals. Turkey? Boring. Roast Beef? Meh. The only huge family meal that turns my proverbial crank is a big ham, the truest expression of love that can be embodied as a cured, smoked, glazed and cooked pig corpse! Glee!

Miscellaneous Doodles

Posted by lassam on Thursday, April 13

So, as a drawing exercise, I wandered on to Hot Or Not (www.hotornot.com), set the dial to "Over 40/Male", and drew some of the most entertaining people to come up.

This one was fun. Old guys with hats are probably the most entertaining thing to draw.

One fellow didn't have the gumption to actually show his face.  Everybody loves a miscellaneous baseball player!

When I saw this guy, I actually, physically, laughed. I think, if I ever have a company in need of a logo, this is what I'm using (I have a cleaned up and inked version of this adorning the back of my laptop)

So, then, later, I just started doodling random things.
I was doodling chefs, and all of a sudden, I though of my Uncle Antonio, and I wondered if I could adequately caricature him from memory..

.. So, after my 'generic chef' drawing, I started doodling my uncle, and I think it turned out pretty well.

Finally, to round this all out, a healthy dose of nerd!
